Helen Marie Deppe, 91, of Galesburg, died at 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born November 7, 1926, in New Windsor, the daughter of Albin and Minnie (Anderson) Wenstrom. She married Clifford Deppe September 22, 1973 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death August 29, 1998.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Marjorie) Collopy of Salem, Oregon; two daughters, Linda (Larry) Wood of Galesburg and Patricia (Carroll) Borowski of West Edmeston, New York; a step daughter, Carol Hagan of Galesburg; a step son, Scott Deppe of Galesburg; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Jones and Avis Olson; and a step son, Alan Deppe.

Helen moved to rural Wataga at the age of six and graduated from Sparta Township High School in 1944. She was employed by Sears and Roebuck as a teletype operator for 22 years, retiring in 1981. Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, reading, and working crossword puzzles.

Cremation will be accorded. Private family graveside services will be held in Wataga Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements for the family. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
