Funeral services for O.N. "Jack" Simmons, 85 of Lexington, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Adina Christian Church in the Adina Community near Lexington with Pastor Tom Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington. The family will be present for visitation Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Jack passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at his home near Lexington. Ophir Nimrah "Jack" Simmons was born on August 21, 1925 at the family home in Williamson County, Texas to Homer & Ruth (Sanders) Simmons. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and obtained the rank of Seaman 1st Class before receiving his Honorable Discharge on June 1, 1946. Jack was a overhead crane operator for Alcoa for 23 years before his retirement and was united in marriage to Alta Lea Rodgers on November 21, 1971 in Richmond, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sue Olive; two sisters, Helen Butler and Roxie Jensen and a brother-in-law, Pete Jensen. Jack is survived by his wife, Alta Lea Simmons of Lexington; son, David & Beverly Simmons of Lexington; stepson, Randy & Rita Dismukes of Lexington; stepdaughter, Kay & Tony Reda of Austin; four grandchildren, Nick & Amy Simmons of Windsor, Colorado, Marla Dismukes of Pflugerville, Jessica & Casey Ruthven of Austin and Kent & Angie Ahrendt of Paradise; one great granddaughter, Kristyn; sister-in-law, Faye Arender of Lexington; two brothers-in-law, James Butler of Manor and Bob & Jessie Rodgers of Cedar Park, three nieces and two nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Cox, Brad Cox, David Sweat, Matt Sherrill, Ronnie Butler and Mike Butler. Memorials may be made to the Lexington Cemetery Association or the charity of one's choice.
