Mrs. Edna Allen Drowned
Word was received in Fort Benton the last of the week by Fay Adams, announcing the death of Mrs. Edna Allen by drowning on Dec. 30th. Mrs. Allen was the mother of Charles Allen, of the Ridge section, and she homesteaded in that part of the county, still owning a large ranch there.
According to word received, she went for a walk near their home at La Jolla, Calif. on the morning of Dec. 30th, and fell into the ocean and was drowned. It had been very foggy and the streets, sidewalks and rocks were very slippery and it is thought that she missed her footing and fell in where the water was very deep as the high tide was in. A fisherman noticed her and her body was recovered within a very short time as she was only away from the house about half an hour before her body was taken from the ocean. The body was taken to Chicago for burial.
The relatives have the sincere sympathy of this community in their great loss.
