Services for Merle D. Niemann, 62, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Mr. Niemann died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Merle was a lifetime dairy farmer and a widely known and respected electrician in Scott County.
He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Davenport, to Albert and Wilma (Claussen) Niemann. He married Janice Wolf on Sept. 7, 1963, in Davenport.
He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965.
He was a member of Walcott United Methodist Church, Swiss Valley Co-op, River Valley Co-op and Scott County Farm Bureau and was a 4-H volunteer in Scott County. He was an avid fan of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes Marching Band and enjoyed fishing, working and spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Walcott United Methodist Church or Scott County 4-H.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeff Knipe, Fort Madison, Iowa; a son, Mark Niemann, McCausland, Iowa; a grandson, Joel Michael Knipe; his mother, Wilma Niemann, Davenport; a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Eleanor Niemann, Walcott; a sister and brother-in-law, Verla and Richard Wulf, Grand Mound, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Gladys Wolf, Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
