Gary Keeling, 78, fought a courageous battle with cancer but succumbed to the disease surrounded by his family on March 10, 2018, at his home in Superior.
Gary was born on February 8, 1940, to Adna and Irene (Childs) Keeling, in Newton, Kansas, and was one of two children.
Gary was a high school graduate and attended a year of college. He was united in marriage to Sonja Kay Olsen on August 20, 1961 at Scandia, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children.
Before settling in Superior, Gary lived in Kansas and Colorado. He leaves behind an incredible and lasting legacy. He was a “Jack of all Trades,” which included building his own home. He loved to travel in the winter, and was a camp host at Lovewell Lake in the summer months. He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a good friend to all and everyone he knew they could count on him for anything.
Gary was employed for 35 years at Brodstone Memorial Hospital as an Information Technician and he also worked in the Maintenance Department. He was a member of the Superior Police Department and an EMT and also the local Masons Lodge.
Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Ruby Chandler.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sonja; their daughter Pamela Sue (Mark) Murphy, Teena Marie (Ron) Wallis and Gary Dean (Cindy) Keeling all of Superior, Nebraska; Gary was adored by his 8 grandchildren Jonathan Bruns, Valerie Woerner, Justin Keeling, Tanner Keeling, Levi Koss, Sidney Meyer, Kenny Meyer and Keaton Meyer; 7 great grandchildren; and his sister Marcilene (Ron) Wittmer of Pembroke Pines, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
