Mary Ann Gandy, (aka: Annie or Anna), was born in December 1885 in Texas. Her father John Abney Gandy, was 28 and her mother Mary (Winburn) Gandy, was 25. Mary Ann "Annie" married Henry Ezell and they had two children. A son Loyd Ezell, born in 1910 and a daughter Eva, born in 1912. Mary Ann (aka: Annie or Anna) and her husband Henry Ezell, and son Loyd are in the 1910 census. Since their daugher Eva wasn't born until 1912 she didn't show up in the census until 1920. In the 1920 census both the Ezell children (Loyd and Eva) are living with their maternal Grandmother, Mary (Winburn) Gandy-Featherston and their step-grandfather Christopher Columbus Featherston. After the 1910 census, Henry and and his wife Mary Ann (aka: Annie or Anna) cannot be found in any other records. I believe they both died before 1920 and their children Loyd and Eva were living with "and" raised by their maternal grandmother. Also, The 1900 and 1910 census has her name as Anna M Gandy and Annie Ezell. Her son Loyd's U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index has her name as Mary A Featherston. I believe her name is Mary Ann and most likely named after her mother. I believe she is a "Gandy" and NOT a "Featherston". She was very young when her mother re-married a second time to Christopher Columbus Featherston and she had several 'half' siblings. I can see her reverting to using the Featherston last name, especially growing up in a home with her mother Mary Winburn now using the Featherston last name and her 'half' siblings and even her youngest brother John James Gandy is documented in various census records with the last name Featherston. All these Gandy and Featherston children were close in age, I believe when her mother Mary (Winburn) Gandy married Christopher Columbus Featherston the younger Gandy children were about the same age as the two Featherston children (Ida and Grover) and they all used the Featherston last name. I remember my grandmother always referring to her grandmother Mary (Winburn) Gandy as 'Grandma Featherston', my grandmother Gladys Irene Gandy (daughter of John James Gandy) said she never knew her Grandfather, John Abney Gandy.
