AURORA — Pat Sheehan, 66, of Aurora passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. The Rev. Loras Grell will officiate. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery northeast of Manley. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Eileen Sheehan, the daughter of John Patrick and Florence (Newham) Sheehan, was born in Nebraska City on Aug. 21, 1951, and passed away in Aurora on March 4, 2018, at the age of 66.

She grew up in Manley and graduated from Weeping Water High School. Pat graduated from Peru State College in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She began her teaching career in Roseland, where she taught for three years. Pat moved to Aurora and taught in the Aurora School District for 37 years before retiring in 2013. During this time Pat received her master’s degree in education from Kearney State College. Pat impacted the lives of many children who she taught during her dedicated career in teaching.

Pat was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, where she was a member of the Altar Society and the funeral committee, and was a CCD teacher for several years. Pat volunteered with the Teammates program at Aurora Public Schools and at the Memorial Hospital Thrift Store. She was also a member of PEO and the G.I. Area Retired Teachers Association. She especially loved to care for her dog, Grady.


She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Larry (Sandy) Sheehan of Savannah, Texas; a niece, Angie (Roger) Meyer of Omaha; two nephews, Kerry (Amy) Sheehan of Parkville, Mo., and Ryan (Mandy) Sheehan of Leander, Texas; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and many close friends and family members.
