Interment will be in the St. Theresa Cemetery in Duson, LA.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include two daughters, Erline Dugas Martin and husband Roy of Lafayette, Rebecca "Beckie" Dugas Hariu and husband Stephen of Scott, son, Earl Dugas of Natchitoches, three grandchildren, Kami Martin Celino, Crystal Hariu Damore and husband Pete, Scott Dugas and wife Jennifier, five great grandchildren, Morgan Dugas, Austin Celino, Elise Celino, Austin Dees and Alayna Dees, along with a host of nieces and nepews. She also had an honorary granddaughter, Kimberly Toutcheque.
Birdie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Luke Dugas, parents, Albert Lavergne and Clarice Royer Lavergne, her beloved grandson, Chad Martin, four brothers, Adam Lavergne, Isaac Lavergne, Domingue Lavergne, and Oscar Lavergne, four sisters, Eva Champagne, Beulah Daigle, Almoza Meche, and Louise Breaux.
Birdie Mae Lavergne Dugas was born in Rayne, LA on June 4, 1928 and entered in Heaven's gates on March 5, 2018
Birdie was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker, and friend who loved all those she met unconditionally. She loved soap opera and watching hummingbirds for hours. The lesson she taught her family was to always forgive, be generous, and give unconditional love. She was a big hearted soul who will be missed by all who knew her.
Birdie had an unwavering faith in God believing that through prayers all could be accomplished. Each morning she dedicated two hours to praying for all in need. She continued throughout her day putting everyone else first. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Duson, LA.
