Evening Post, 13 July 1872
Information has been received from the Hutt this morning that a farmer, named Francis, of Belmont, was accidentally killed yesterday. He left his house in the morning to go into the bush, for the purpose of felling timber and not returning in the evening, his wife went to look for him. He was found dead, crushed between two heavy logs, heels uppermost. Apparently, he had endeavored to roll them down the hill and had somehow slipped between them. An inquest was held to-day, the verdict was accidental death
