SCHOONOVER, James P. "Jimmy", 74, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, June 25, 1993, at the VA Medical Center in Salem. He was retired from the City of Roanoke, served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a faithful member of East Gate Church of the Nazareth. Survivors include his wife, Nadine Allie Schoonover; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Louis (Tommy) Blankenship of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Linda C. Schoonover; granddaughters and husbands, Donna and David Dickerson, Esther and Brian Langford; great-granddaughter, Amber and Thomas Dickerson; sisters and brother-in-law, Nellie Paxton of Moneta, Rachel and Bruce Martin of Roanoke; brothers and sister-in-law, Norris and Carolyn Schoonover, Emerson and Ruth Schoonover, Roscoe and Mary Schoonover, all of Salem, Gerald and Dorothy Schoonover, Roanoke; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dewey and Blanche Allie. Funeral services will be held noon Monday, June 28, 1993, from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. George Stevenson and the Rev. Paul Lockhart will officiate. Burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at Lotz Vinton Chapel.
