Mary Mildred Haen, age 97, of Piqua, Kansas, passed away on March 2, 2018, at Greystone Assisted Living in Iola, Kansas.

Mary was born to Joseph A. Bruggeman and Hattie Rose Wolz Bruggeman on July 23, 1920, at Piqua, Kansas. Mary and Hubert J. Haen were united in marriage on November 16, 1949, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Piqua, Kansas.

Mary was a nurse in her earlier years at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. Later she worked at the grocery store in Piqua and at her brother, Raymond's, confectionary store in Piqua. She was a housewife and helped her husband farm.

Mary was best known for her kindness, love of family and friends, and her service to others. She loved to fish. Mary liked to garden, raise chickens, and canning vegetables.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert, on June 5, 2002, her parents, her brothers, Fr. Louis Bruggeman, Leo Bruggeman, and Raymond Bruggeman.

Visitation and rosary will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018, with funeral mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martin's Oratory, Piqua, Kansas. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery or to St. Martin's Oratory, and may be left at the funeral home. Feuerborn Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
