Hetty Marsh, wife of John C. Marsh, of Walnut Grove, died on Tuesday morning, July 8, 1890, aged sixty-two years five months and ten days. She was married March 7, 1848. She leaves her husband, seven brothers, two sisters, six sons, three daughters, twenty three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Three children and eight grandchildren have preceded her to the world beyond. She was the daughter of George Wissinger Sr., who died three years ago. Her brothers are Archie, George, Hiram, Sylvester, Jeremiah, Clinton, and Alexander Wissinger. Her sisters are Elizabeth, wife of Levi Wissinger, of Walnut Grove, and Julia Ann, wife of Isaac Horner, of Ogle Township Somerset County. Her sons are George W. Marsh of Sherman street, South side, this city; James A., Archie, John, and Clarence Marsh of Walnut Grove, and Elijah Marsh, living near Moxham. Her daughters are Rebecca J., wife of Samuel L. Sherbine; Maggie, wife of William Marsh and Hetty, single. She was buried in the family graveyard on the Griffith Farm in Stoneycreek Township. Her funeral sermon was preached by Elder Jacob Holsopple, of the Brethren Church, of which she was for many years a consistent member. The pall-bearers were Jacob Meneeky, William Dull, George W. Kooniz, M.M. Roudaburg, Henry Wentz, and Samuel Harrison, nearly all of her own selection. She was a dutiful wife, a loving mother, a kind and obliging neighbor, and a devoted Christian, loved and respected by all who knew her.
