Elizabeth M. Wengler was born April 6, 1910, to John Wengler and Mary Kalmus in Remsen, Iowa.
Elizabeth lived with her family at Remsen, Iowa, until they moved to Belgrade, Minnesota, where she attended school.
On June 7, 1928, Elizabeth was married to George Lubbesmeyer in St. Cloud, where they resided. They moved to Morton and then Big Stone City, South Dakota in 1942. George died February 2, 1951.
On June 12, 1976, Elizabeth was married to Lester Bergseth in Big Stone City, South Dakota. He died in August of 1985.
Elizabeth lived in Big Stone City until becoming a resident of Northridge Residence in Ortonville, Minnesota in January of 1996.
Elizabeth was employed at the Big Stone Motel, as a cook at the Big Stone School, and operated a cafe in Ortonville known as "Betz's Cafe."
She was a member of St. Charles Church and St. Charles Altar Society; American Legion Auxiliary and Senior Citizens, both in Big Stone City. While a resident at Northridge, she enjoyed taking part in the Kitchen Kapers and classes in water painting. She enjoyed all activities and loved gardening and quilting. She was a member of Bowl of Love in Ortonville.
Survivors include her children, Elaine, Virginia, Dorothy, Phyllis and Henry, 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Also a sister, Theresa, sisters-in-law, Hazel, Muriel, Lorraine and Deloris, brothers-in-law, Harold, Lawrence, Ed, Homer and Marvin.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, six sisters and her husbands.
