Early A. (Art) Hedgecock, Jr., 70, of the Abbotts Creek community, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 28, 2018, surrounded by his family at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center due to complications from an automobile accident. Art was born September 9, 1947 in Forsyth County, a son of the late Early Arthur Hedgecock, Sr. and Frances Baines Hedgecock. Art is survived by his faithful wife of 44 years, Louallan; sons, Allen and Madison (Caroline); loving sister, Chandra Hinkle (Ray), his nieces, Christie Kent and Shana Izurieta (J.P.). Also surviving is a special sister-in-law, Judy Townsend (Larry) and her children, Chip Townsend (Emily) and Cathy Falkson (Fritz) and numerous great nieces and nephews. Art graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1965 and High Point College in 1970 with a degree in biology. Art obtained a master's degree from Appalachian State University in political science and was employed by Forsyth County in the Environmental Affairs Department. Later, he worked as an insurance agent with North Carolina Farm Bureau. Being a die-hard Democrat, Art enjoyed politics. Always proud of his family, Art also loved history and researching his heritage. He was a member of Abbotts Creek Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, R. A. leader and member of the History Committee. Art's celebration of life service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Abbotts Creek Baptist Church
