He was born in Hagerstown, MD[Washington or Caroline county]. He was the son of Elijah Williamson. His sister Mary Jane Williamson married Wesley Shields and is buried beside him].

Edward married Mary Jane Shields 18 February 1843 in Hancock Co, IN. They had 9 children. He married 2)Mary "Elizabeth" Rice and they had 5 children.

Children with Mary Jane Shields were Sarah Jane "Sallie" Williamson[married James W. Castor], Elijah Williamson[married Ellen M. Cone], Elizabeth Ann Williamson[married William Adkins], Lillian C. Williamson[married John Daniel], John S. Williamson[married Allie Campbell], Mary Frances Williamson[married William Perry Cooper], Infant Williamson, Charles E. Williamson[married Ida or Eda Morilla Lockabill] and Rosetta Williamson[married Bartley Jeremiah Conine].

Children with Mary "Elizabeth" Rice were Minna A. Williamson, Robert Watson Williamson[married Alice Cecelia "Belle" Katzenbarger], Thomas "Albert" Williamson, Martha Williamson and William "Henry" Williamson.

Edward Emery WILLIAMSON was born Mar 18 1822 in Eastern Shore, Caroline County Maryland. Moved to Fayette Co. Indiana in 1826 where he lived for twenty nine years. While living here he was united in marriage to Mary SHIELDS in Feb 1843. To this union were born 9 children one having died in infancy and one, "Mrs. Milton Daniel" in Feb 1907. The remaining seven survive him and were by his bedside during his last illness. He removed to Iowa in 1855. Here his wife died Jan 19, 1872. On April 6, 1876 he was again united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth RICE, to this union were born five children two having died in infancy. The remaining three with the aged wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Uncle Ned as he was called by all who knew him, was a faithful Christian, having united with the Church of Christ at Hopeville about 40 years ago. He was a devoted student of the bible and loved to talk of the scriptures having repeated whole chapters from memory to the friends about him while on his death bed. Although a great sufferer in his last illness he was patient awaiting the call of him who has said, "He that overcometh the same shall be clothed in white rainment and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life." He departed this life April 21, 1908, aged 85 years 1 month and 3 days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. J. Carrick at the Christian Church of Hopeville April 23. Interment in Hopeville cemetery.
