Judy Marilyn Edwards Yates, 72, of Moultrie, died February 26, 2018 at Cobblestone Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center after a lengthy illness.

Born March 4, 1945 in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Decheard Edwards and the late Nadine Tucker Edwards; and granddaughter of the late John Wright Tucker and the late Gussie Cobb Tucker.

Judy was a homemaker and a member of the Primitive Baptist Faith. She lived most of her life on the Elder H.C. Tucker property. Her great-great-grandfather, Henry Crawford Tucker Jr., was one of the first settlers to arrive in Colquitt County.

Judy was a 1962 graduate of Moultrie High School. She touched the hearts of many people. Judy ran a ceramic studio for years.

She loved the Lord and blessed many through her prayers. She was a gifted gardener and enjoyed sharing her fruits, vegetables, and blooms with others. Judy also loved riding her horses.

Surviving are her sister Angie Fuller (Ken) of Thomasville, GA.; children Glenda Yates of Moultrie and Police Chief Lynwood E. Yates, Jr. (Sandy) of Morven, GA., she raised her three grandchildren, Michael Strickland (Sarah) of Leesburg, GA; Samantha Jay Apperson (Jeremy) of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and Heather Sadler Bryant (Steven) of Moultrie. Her great-grandchildren are Raylen Strickland, Reece Strickland, Hunter Apperson, Hailey Apperson, Hannah Apperson, Chase Giddens, Cale Bryant and newborn, Coy Bryant. Judy’s niece is Christina Fuller; her nephew is Jonathan Fuller (Jordan) and great nephew, Tucker Fuller.
