Mrs. Lozie Barber "Maw" Thomas, age 95 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018.
Born Monday, May 29, 1922 in Franklinton, Louisiana, she was a member of The Family Church and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her parents, Cleve and Ada McGee Barber; husband, Virgil Thomas; siblings, Albert Barber, Edison Barber, Wilber Barber, Ellis Barber, Anslee Barber, Houston Barber, Earl Barber, Rosa Dean Sumrall, Martha Westmoreland and Earline B. Hinson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jewel Thomas (Linda); grandchildren, Charls Thomas and Charla Shelton; great grandchildren, Joshua Thomas, Lauren Bryant, Sloane Shelton and Sydney Shelton; and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at The Family Church with the Reverends Joel Hines, H.W. Smith and Jerry Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday 11:00 AM until time of services.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Delain Crane, Chad Smith, Joshua Ball, Johnny Sweat, Daniel Boyett and Brent Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Hubbard, A.C. Busby, Mike Melton, James Holbrook, Bobby Long and David Christman.
