Aileen Margurite "Peggy" Bellinger-Gulberg-Epling was born August 22, 1925 in Long Beach, CA. to Merritt and Sarah (Imes) Bellinger. She died March 31, 2007 in Bremerton, Wa. of heart failure, after a short and unexpected infection landed her in the ICU at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Peggy lived in Bremerton from 1945 until 1960, where she had four children with husband Eddie Gulberg. During this time Peggy was active in PTA, winning numerous Golden Acron Awards. She and Eddie divorced in 1961 and Peggy moved to the Los Angeles area. It was there that she married Bill Epling, with whom she recently celebrated 43 years of marriage. Peggy was a waitress in Los Angeles, working at La Palma Chicken Pie Shop for 30 years. Old time customers and the owner remember her fondly to this day. Peggy and Bill enjoyed many years of square dancing together. Peggy and Bill moved to the Northwest in 1992. Peggy began volunteering her services at her daughter's elementary school in Ollala where she was a valuable and appreciated aide for 15 years.
Peggy will be remembered as "Grandma Peggy" by many who knew her. Peggy is survived by her husband Bill of Ollala: daughter Sunny Willson (Jerry) of So. Colby: sons Larry Gulberg (Debbi) of Mukilteo: Tim of Port Orchard: 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Bob Gulberg in 1980. Visitation will be held at the Lewis Funeral Chapel, Bremerton, Wa. on Friday, Saturday and Monday. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park, where Peggy will be laid to rest next to her mother and father.
