She was born April 21, 1930, to William and Vera (Mullicane) Watson in Omaha, Neb., where she grew up. On April 9, 1949, she married James H. Backora in Omaha. They moved to Minnesota in 1968, where they operated Shady Bay Resort on East Lost Lake until 1977. She worked at the First National Bank in Battle Lake and most recently at the First National Bank in Ottertail until her retirement in 1995. The past 23 years she has resided on Middle Lake. While she loved doing many different activities, her most treasured time was spent with her husband, Jim, their three children and spouses and six grandchildren. Her hobbies included sewing quilts, gardening, fishing and bird watching. She was a member of the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Tom (Cindy) of Carlos and David (Mary) of Chaska; daughter, Jeannie (Dan) Carlisle of Wadena; grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, Ryan, Kelsey, Dylan and Rachael; brother, Roy (Phyllis) Watson of Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Clara (Jerry) Varley of Omaha, Neb., Norma Ross of Wisner, Neb., and Jackie (Jack) Kruger of Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael James Backora and a sister, Louise (Loris).
Memorials may be made to Lakeland Hospice and Eagle Lake Lutheran Church.
Visitation: Was Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service
Service: was 2 p.m. Saturday at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
