Her family moved to High Point, NC in 1941, then to Rocky Mount, NC, and to Hendersonville, NC in 1950. She graduated in 1951 from Hendersonville High School, attended the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Furman University. She married Henry Madison Davis, Jr in 1952. She worked as a Special Education teacher in Georgia, a substitute teacher for Henderson County, and a teacher's assistant at Hendersonville Elementary School. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon and as a longtime member of the Trinity Pre-School Board. She also was a member of the Abraham Kuykendall Chapter of the DAR, Kappa Kappa Iota Teaching Sorority, and the YMCA "Power Waves" Group, and she volunteered as a tutor for Blue Ridge Literacy Council, teaching English to ESL students for nine years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret Paralee Key Chandler and Hollis Victor Chandler; and her husband, Henry Madison Davis Jr. She was survived by a daughter; a son-in-law; and a grandson.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Interment on February 23, 2018.
