Funeral service for T.J. Henry will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Shelley Forrester, Rector officiating.
Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

T.J. Henry, age 88, Lawton, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Lawton. He was born August 31, 1929 in Marshall, Texas to Joseph Edward and Hazel (Croft) Henry. He played tackle on the high school football team and after graduating from high school, he attended East Texas Baptist College and played football. He also served in the Texas National Guard. T.J. met Pat Streich at college and they were married on August 27, 1949 in Marshall.
He worked for Southwestern Bell in Texas as an installer and installed the first mobile phones in Wichita Falls. Another installation job led him to Schlumberger Well services, which was seeking employees with electrical expertise. He quit the phone company and went to work for the giant oilfield company, which sent him to electronics school in Houston.
In 1961 T.J. entered the discount business. T.J. and Pat's family purchased a franchise and opened a Gibson's store in Wichita Falls. He and Pat moved to Lawton in June 1964 to open the family's second store. The family would eventually own four stores in Oklahoma and six in Texas.
T.J. has been a part of numerous Lawton civic organizations. He has been a member of the Association of the United States Army and has served on the Board of Directors for Citizens Bank, the Lawton Metropolitan Airport Authority where he was past chairman, the Board of Directors for the Lawton Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Lawton Industrial Development Board of Directors, the Comanche County Excise Board and the Board of Directors for the Lawton YMCA. He is a member of the Maskat Shrine Temple in Wichita Falls and the India Shrine Temple in Oklahoma City. He is also a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
T.J. and Pat ran the Southwest Oklahoma Campaign for George Nigh when he first ran for governor. Known as the "Nigh's Good Guys" the campaign was successful. Nigh later named T.J. a member of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission. T.J. served as chairman and later served as chairman on a sub-committee on Quarter Horse racing with the National Association of Racing Commissioners.
Striving to support the Lawton community, T.J. contributed to the Cameron University Foundation, the Comanche County Memorial Hospital Foundation and was a Cannon Cocker. He also established the T.J. Henry Scholarship for students attending Cameron University, awarding a scholarship each year to a student from each of Lawton's three high schools. For his efforts he was awarded the Cameron University Distinguished Service Award in 1986. He was also selected one of 60 people nationwide to attend the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference designed to familiarize the participants with national security and defense capabilities in June of 1987.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Debbie Henry and Mark and Lucinda Henry, all of Lawton; son-in-law, Dave Stockwell, Norman, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and their spouses, Staci and Rick Walker, Lawton, Shelli and Bryan Hart, Geronimo, Justin Henry, Oklahoma City, Dillon and Katelynn Henry, Oklahoma City, MacKenzie and Ryan Dennis, Oklahoma City and Madison Stockwell, Oklahoma City; five great grandchildren, Parker Henry, Mia and Ty Walker and Weston and Jack Dennis; numerous nieces and nephews.
His daughter, Marcie Stockwell, parents, Hazel and Joseph Henry, brother, Roger Henry, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Streich, and his brother-in-law, Mr. Cecil Streich, preceded him in death.
