Vera B. McClure, 73, of 28 ½ East Washington, street, Fort Wayne, a native of
Decatur, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph hospital. She had been critically ill for
the past four days.
She was born in Decatur Jan. 16, 1892, a daughter of (Andrew) Racy and Margaret Ann
(McDonald) Bowers and had resided in Fort Wayne for 30 years.
Surviving are her mother Mrs. Margaret Bowers-Stonerock of Decatur; three daughters,
Mrs. Paul F. (Irene) Meyer of Decatur, Mrs. John (Alma) Gerrard of Fort Wayne, and
Mrs. Ruth Dean of South Bend; two sons, Calvin and Earl McClure, both of Fort Wayne;
16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, one brother, John Bowers of Fort Wayne and
two sisters, Mrs. Earl Colter of Decatur, and Mrs. Larry Cowan of San Raphael, Calif.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic
church in this city, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial will be in
the Decatur Cemetery. Friends may call at the Zwick funeral home after 7 p.m. today
until time of the services. The Rosary society will recite the rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday.
