Reverend Lawrence Adams
August 14, 1922 - February 17, 2018
Born in Zachariah, KY
Resided in Bowling Green, Kentucky
The Reverend Lawrence Adams, age 95, spent over 65 years preaching about God's love and inviting people to Heaven by placing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. On Saturday, February 17, 2018, Brother Adams went to heaven to walk the streets of gold with those who have accepted that invitation. The Wolfe County native was born on August 14, 1922 in Zachariah, Kentucky and was called to preach at age 10. He pursued that calling after serving in the Navy Seabees from 1942-1945 and later graduating from Trevecca Nazarene College.
His Nazarene ministry began in 1947 and he successfully served churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, Indiana, and Ohio. After retiring to Bowling Green, Kentucky in1986, he remained committed to spreading God's love through pulpit filling opportunities, substitute teaching, hospital and home visitations, performing weddings and through daily contact with the general public. Lawrence was a devoted husband, a loving family man, and a true man of God who wanted all of his family, friends, and casual acquaintances to know and experience the wonderful love of God. While spending the last five years of his life in assisted-living and memory care, he continued to go out ministering to others accompanied by his dear friend Sue Harris.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mavis, twin granddaughters, Lisa and Laura Willey, daughters of Beth Bradley, 2 sisters and 9 brothers.
Reverend Adams is survived by his son Larry Adams (Patti), two daughters; Linda Keown (David) and Beth Bradley (Tom), 2 grandsons; Kevin Adams (Patti) and Jason Willey (Gretchen), 2 granddaughters; Kimberley Adams (Noel) and Ally Keltner, 6 great grandchildren; Amanda Bowland (Scott), Tate Barton, Anna and Ella Adams, Cain and Isaac Willey, 2 great great grandchildren; Connor and Greyson Bowland. The family would like to express their sincere heartfelt love and appreciation to Sue Harris for her daily love, devotion, and care to Lawrence.
