Johelen Gibson Alexander, age 88, of Bronston, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at her residence.

Johelen was born on March 28, 1929, in Pulaski County, daughter of Chyle and Hazel Dungan Gibson. She married William Homer Alexander on July 23, 1949, in Jellico, Tennessee.

While living for years in Indianapolis, Johelen worked with the Melrain Corporation, a television component manufacturer. She was a long-time member of Bronston Baptist Church.

Johelen enjoyed cooking. She loved being with her family, and always stood by them.

She is survived by her children, Pam Masel (Joe), of Bronston, and Janet Phelps (Dickie), of Burnside; her grandchildren, Lynn Lowery (Summer) and Angel Mink (Josh), both of Somerset, Frank Masel (Katie), both of Baltimore, Maryland, and Madison Phelps of Burnside; her great-grandchildren, Haley Palmer, Caden Daugherty, Arabella Lowery, Zoie Lowery, all of Somerset, Mariele Susan Masel of Baltimore, Maryland and her step-great-grandson, Maddox Mink.

Preceding Johelen in death are her parents, Chyle and Hazel Gibson; her husband, Bill Alexander; her son, Danny Alexander; her brother, J.C. Gibson; and her sisters, Anna Russell Thomas and Maxine Gibson.

Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2018, after 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company.

A Celebration of the Life of Johelen Gibson Alexander will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 12:00 noon, in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Clarence Floyd officiating.

Interment will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Josh Mink, Madison Phelps, Joe Masel and Dickie Phelps. Caden Daugherty will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
