Military graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in the Archer City Cemetery with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Carl was born October 28, 1926 in Archer City, Texas to Joe Washington Adams and Ida Key Adams.
Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He reached the Rank of Sergeant First Class, and was awarded the Expert Infantry Man badge while in Korea. Carl was later offered a battlefield commission, but chose to remain with his men as a platoon Sergeant.
After leaving the Army, Carl served as Deputy Sheriff of Archer County. Years later, he began his career in the boot and western wear business. First as the owner of Adams Dixon Boot Company, where he custom made boots for ranchers and country singers alike. He then entered the retail western business, where he spent the next 40 years in sales and management.
He married the love of his life, Janice Anita Cross, on November 27, 1948 in Breckenridge, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 21, 2013 after 65 years together.
Survivors include one daughter, Jana Pink, and husband, Marlon of Dallas; three grandchildren, Jordan Adam Pink, Rachel Sara Pink, and Zachary Eben Pink; one brother, James K. Adams and wife, Pat of Archer City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Weldon Joe Adams on June 22, 2003; one grandson, Alex Leon Pink on September 20, 1989 and two sisters, Mattie Jo Adams and Ina Tabor.
The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
