Maude Marie (Mitzi) Anstett was born on April 24,1921, in Preston to John and Louise (Hanning) Anstett. Maude attended elementary, rural and town school and graduated from Preston High School in 1938, and from the teacher training department in 1939. Followed by summer school at Winona State Teachers College in Winona and several off campus courses.

Maude began teaching in rural (country) schools and did so for 8 years before teaching Spring kindergarten in Chatfield for 12 years. When school was not in session, she worked at the Chatfield News as a proof reader and did general office work.

In 1967, Maude began work as a secretary in the Fillmore County Welfare office for 10 years, followed by Secretary in the Veterans Service office. She retired in 1984.

Maude married Richard Holets Jr, on May 28, 1942 at St.Paul Lutheran Church in Preston. She acquired the name "Mitzi" by her husband. Richard died December 20, 2013 in Chatfield.

Mitzi was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield, and taught Sunday School, and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Rural Letter Carriers Auxiliary, and the Fillmore County Historical Society.
She was avid reader and always had a book waiting to be read. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She also loved to travel, visiting many historical sites in the U.S. and aboard.

Mrs. Holets is survived by 2 daughters, Rebecca Mae (Stephen) Fenn of Erie, Colorado and LuCinda Jo (Robert) Thesenvitz of Chatfield ; 4 grandchildren, Craig Stevens of Fairview, Texas; Karen Fenn of Trophy Club, Texas; Jim Fenn of Highland Village, Texas and Rachel (Fenn) Palazzolo of Trophy Club, Texas and 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Funeral services for Mrs. Holets will be at 11a.m. Friday, February 23,2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield, with Pastor Peter J. Haugen officiating Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Chatfield. A visitation will be from 10-11 on the day of the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Chosen Valley Care Center Activity Department.
