A daughter of the late Stokes and Rendia Buchanan, she was born
Mar. 13, 1912, in Mitchell County. Mrs. Duncan was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Avery Gordon Duncan, two daughters,
Mrs. Ernest (Shelby) Lane of Boone and Mrs. Eugene (Shirley) Laux of
Hickory; a brother, Okal Buchanan of Marion; and two sisters, Mrs.
Frank Sparks of Bakersville and Mrs. Bill (Geneva) Gouge of Bandana.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bass-Smith Funeral Home.

The funeral for Opel Buchanan Duncan, 69, 331 Twenty-first St. SW, who
died Tuesday, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church
by the Rev. Mr. Robbins. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at Bass-Smith Funeral Home tonight from 7 until 8:30
o'clock. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral.
