He was born in Greenville County, son of the late Samuel Edgar Eskew and Bessie Thompson, and had been a mechanic at Oliver Motor Company for the past 25 years. He was a member of Earlewood Baptist Church and Richland Masonic Lodge No. 39.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Hathcock Eskew; one step-daughter, Mrs. M. L. (Mildred) Long, West Columbia, four step-sons, J. C. Downs, West Columbia and W. N., E. E. and Jouett Downs of Columbia, and six sisters, Mrs. C. R. (Nell) Kuykendoll, Clinton, Mrs. Carl K. (Amber) Richbourg, Camden, Mrs. Annette Foster, Tampa, Fla., Miss Lila Eskew, Columbia, Mrs. Jack W. (Robbie) Cauler, Riverton, N. J., and Miss Shirley Eskew, San Diego, Calif.
