Funeral services for Mellie Forbes, 71 of Marshall will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the chapel of Downs Funeral Home with burial to follow in Eagle Creek Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., Monday, February 19th.
Pallbearers will be John Jones, John Terry Jones, Lonnie Jones, Cory Owen, Shane Clark, and Carl Clark.
Mellie Lucille Jones Forbes was born July 15, 1946 to Barney Franklin Jones, Sr. and Nellie Lucille McBride Jones in Marshall, Texas. She passed away February 16, 2018 in Longview, Texas. She attended Marshall Schools and loved the outdoors and loved to fish. One of her favorite things to do was to go to McDonalds and meet all her friends for coffee every day. She loved music and enjoyed going to the Lions Community Center to watch everyone else dance. Watching wrestling at her brother’s house anytime it was on was another of her favorite activities, but most of all she loved her family and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Callie Dorchester and husband, Paul; her son Jack Forbes and wife Cindy; her brother Barney Franklin Jones, Jr; her five grandchildren Paul Dorchester, Emily Smith, Scott Dorchester, Cody Forbes, and Ashley Forbes; her two great grandchildren Calvin Dorchester and Blake Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and Friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Barney Franklin Jones, Sr. and Nellie Lucille; her brother Albert Jones, and sister Cathy Corpier.
