THE LATE WILLIAM H. GORDON
Mr. William H. Gordon, a veteran of the civil war, was born June 20, 1844, and departed this life, April 14, 1922, aged, 77 years, nine months and 24 days.
His wife, one son and two grandsons preceded him to the great beyond. He leaves to mourn his loss:
Three daughters, Mrs. Rathburn of Winifred, Montana; Mrs. W. W. Bruther of Hanover, Ind.; Mrs. Frank Watkins of Lincoln, Nebraska; four sons, Morton Gordon of Wheaton, Ill.; James of Bristol, Colo.; Albert of Aurora, Ill.; and Samuel of Waterman, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Lindley Lee, and two brothers George Gordon, an elder of the Carmel-Bethel United Presbyterian Church, and Rev. Albert Gordon, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church of Newark, N.J.
These with 27 grand children survive him to cherish his memory and perpetuate his name and influence.
The deceased united with the Carmel-Bethel church on profession of his faith, October 10, 1863, and has remained in its membership, maintaining a consistent testimony until his death which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Watkins, of Lincoln, Nebraska.
He is a man who will be greatly missed by all with whom he was associated in life, and will be remembered as one who was of a most genial disposition, full of joy and running over with cheerfulness.
