Darrell's Story
Darrell Wade Bales, 55, of Sandford, passed away unexpectedly at 9:43 a.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017, in Union Hospital. He was a truck driver for Jones and Sons Concrete and Masonary Products in Terre Haute. He was born July 29, 1961, in Terre Haute, to Ronald H. Bales and Marilyn Kelsheimer Bales. Survivors include his companion and the love of his life, Christy Roth; two daughters, Meghan Scank and her husband Josh and Katelyn Bales and her mother Melody Sankey, all of Terre Haute; his mother, Marilyn Bales of Libertyville; two brothers, Craig Bales and his wife Michelle of Libertyville and Matt Bales and his fiancée Kilea of Bloomfield; two sisters, Deanna Wilkey and her husband James and Shauna Burns, all of Libertyville; three grandchildren, Caedynce Bales, Rylan Scank and Adam Scank; his best friends, Dave Morris, Lisa Martin and Mike Mattox; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two uncles, Larry Bales and Keith Bales.
Darrell enjoyed working on his cars and exhibiting them in car shows during which he won a number of trophies and awards. He also enjoyed skeet shooting and visiting his friends at the New Goshen Pub.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, West Terre Haute, with Pastor Bob Roush officiating. According to his wishes, cremation has been scheduled. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Thursday.
