Death of Mrs. Wescott

Mrs. Laura M., wife of Mr. Charles R. Wescott, passed away last evening at the age of 44 years, 6 months and 25 days. she leaves to mourn her loss her husband and one daughter, an aged mother and four brothers. the funeral will take place from the Trinity M. E. church Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.

Mrs. Wescott had not been in good health for about a year. A cancerous tumor was the complaint and the disease had made such progress that an operation was deemed imperative by the physicians and the same was undertaken last week. Despite all efforts made in her behalf she passed away last evening.

Mrs. Wescott came to Grand Island in October 1879, immediately after her marriage in Wauseka county, Wisconsin, to Charles R. Wescott. She was born in Erie county, N. Y. but her family removed, when she was yet very young to Minnesota and later to Wisconsin.

Her bereaved husband and daughter Jennie, aged 17, mourn the loss of a most devoted wife and mother. Aside from these the other direct relatives are two brothers residing at Los Angeles, one at Bancroft, Wis., and a fourth in Minnesota; where the mother, aged 83 years, still resides. Owing to the distance it is not known as yet whether any of these will be able to arrive for the funeral or not.

Mrs. Wescott was a member of the Trinity M. E. church. She was most beloved by a large circle of friends and the sympathy of the entire community is with the grief-stricken family.
