He was born on July 14, 1920 in Highland County to Frank and Maude Moler Forsythe. Wayne and his wife, Velma, moved to Fayette County in 1943 and started farming. They attended the Gregg Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and Heritage Memorial Church. Wayne held several positions in the church; trustee, assistant superintendant, superintendant, and he also managed the quartet fund. He loved his church and his church family. Wayne also raised prize winning Angus beef cattle for many years. He loved attending and showing at local, state, and national level shows. Some of his best friends were those he met throughout the livestock industry. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he had met through the years.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darius (Opal) Forsythe, and James (Ruth) Forsythe; brother-in-law, Harold Young; grandson, Brett Jared Melton; and son-in-law, Charles Melton.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Velma Ruth Bick Forsythe, whom he married on November 3, 1940; his children, Linda Sue Melton of Washington CH, and Samuel Wayne Forsythe of Columbus; grandchildren, Barry Forsythe, Jason Forsythe, and Belinda Lou (Bob) Wilson all of Washington CH; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Sean Forsythe of San Antonio, Texas; three great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Esther Young of Mount Orab, and Steven (Patty) Forsythe of Russellville. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church, 1867 Old US 35, Washington CH, OH 43160, with Rev. Joe Duvall officiating with burial to follow at the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Friday evening from 4-7:00 p.m. and again Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
