Edward Eugene Huckeba, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born in Alabama and was a resident of Newport News for 75 years.
He was in the United States Army during WWII from October 31, 1945 to November 14, 1946 as a Staff Sargent in the European Theatres. He was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding for 24 years. He then went to work with NASA/Langley as a Civil Engineer and retired in 1969.
Edward was preceded in rest by his loving wife, Pauline Cumbie Huckeba; infant son, Tony Eugene Huckeba; daughter, Dianne Carol Frisbie; sister, Hazel Moore, brother, Edgar (Red) Huckeba; father, George W. Huckeba and mother, Georgia Mae Davis Huckeba. He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Jo Huckeba-Ledford and husband, Peter, of Williamsburg, and Sylvia Janice Wilber and husband, Basil (Sonny) of Munfordville, KY; grandchildren, Deborah Makela and husband, John, Sherri Mader and husband, Don, Rick Wilber, David Wilber and wife, Terri, Kimberly Philpott and husband, David, Basil Wilber, Jr. and wife, Jeanette, Cathy Boyd and husband, Mike, Billie Jo Tyler and husband, Dan, Jill Gahr, and Heather Ledford; 25 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of Edward's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
