Sarah Phifer Furr-Hargett of Albemarle passed away at Britthaven Healthcare, Albemarle, NC on May 9, 2010. Mrs. Hargett was educated in Rowan County and Albemarle schools. She retired from American Efird Textiles in 1988 after working most of her life there. She also was a homemaker, as well as a good friend to many. She was a Charter, and faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Albemarle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry William Furr in July 1973, and second husband, Billy Wayne Hargett, December 2009. She was also preceded in death by five brothers J. Harry Phifer, Jacob J. Phifer, O. W. Donahue, Jr., Clarence Donahue, Doyle Donahue, and one sister; Louise Donahue Shaver.
At the time of her death, survivors include one son, Gary W. Furr (Carla); two step children, Terry Hargett and Elaine Hargett Byers; three step grandchildren (Tiffany, Daniel and Jeff). At the time of her death, four sisters survive, Jean P. Rary, Doris D. Allen (Harold), Ann Donahue and Dorothy D. Boysworth, and a host of many loving nieces and nephews.
