As stated in a couple of sources, James Patrick Donnelly was the adopted son of Felix and Margaret Gormley Donnelly. It appears that his biological parents were George and Nancy (Nannie) Donnelly Bonnell/Bunnell. With Nancy's death in 1898 that left her husband George to care for six children, three daughters and three sons. Two of the sons went to live in the household of Patrick Henry Donnelly, a younger brother to Felix. Documented by the 1900 census Felix and Margaret took two-year-old James Bunnell into their home.
