Sarah Ann Doyle is believed to be the daughter of Moses Doyle and his wife Caty Kipp, of Ulster and Dutchess Counties, New York. Her first husband was Erastus Ayres, whom she married about 1833. They made their home in New York City, living on King Street . Erastus, a cartman (driver) died 11 July 1842, leaving Sarah Ann with three children: Mary Matilda (d. 1898) [married 1st Thomas M. Bloomer, 2nd John Henry Terhune]; Leander (d. 1915); and Henry (d. 1865). Sarah Ann and her children continued to live in New York City, living on Vandam Street in 1848. About 1855, Sarah Ann married Bloomfield Randolph, widower of Eliza; he and Sarah Ann made their home on Jane Street . Bloomfield Randolph died shortly after their marriage on 16 August 1856. Sarah Ann remained living on Jane Street, where she died at 58 years of age. Her obituary in the New York Herald noted her burial in Hackensack Cemetery on February 11, 1870. Both of her husbands were from New Jersey.
