Confederate Service Record.
Enlisted in the Confederate Army at New Site, Tallapoosa County, AL, in February, 1862, as a Private in Co. "G" 14th AL Infantry Regiment.
Battles in which he participated included: 2nd Manassas, VA, Yorktown, VA, Gettysburg, PA, Wilderness, VA, (where he lost his left arm on May 6, 1864).
He was captured at Yorktown, VA, and held a prisoner of war at Ft. Delaware for four months before being furloughed.
In this 1921 document he listed three living children:
