Victoria is the daughter of Oge' Deaville and Alice Ortego and was born in Plaucheville, Louisiana in Avoyelles Parish.
Her siblings included Telemark "Tilly" Deaville and Aimee Deauville Fontenot.
Her half-siblings were Horace Beauvais, Salonie Beauvais Armand, Mildred Beauvais Genova, Ernest Beauvais, Hazel Beauvais Smith, and Lillian Beauvais Fletcher.
When her father died, her mother re-married to Oscar Ernest Beauvais, known as "Ernest"; with whom she had six more children. The family grew up in Morganza, Louisiana in Iberville Parish.
Initially, her stepfather did not approve of James Doherty as a mate. So Victoria and Jim ran off together - living in a tent on the side of the levee near Shreveport, Louisiana until Ernest found them and brought them home.
The couple were married and went on to live a long, happy life together that included raising four children.
Both died in Maringouin, Louisiana in Iberville Parish.
