ALEXANDRIA, IN- Dr. Charles F. Chappel, 91, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.

He was born February 19, 1926 in Winchester, Kentucky to Bealer and Mary (Delaney) Chappel and has lived in Alexandria for the past 9 years. Charles served with the rank of Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1944. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Master of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Kentucky in 1948 and 1949 respectively. He then received his Ph.D. degree from Oklahoma State University in 1952. Charles became an Ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God in 1998. He worked for Eli Lilly from 1956 to 1994 in both Indianapolis and Greenfield in Research and Development. He became Manager of Agricultural Sales for the company. He worked in Christian TV ministry with Lester Sumrall for 3 years. Charles was a Professor of Business at Anderson College from 1977 to 1980. He also was a Professor of Bio Chemistry and Nutrition at Life Chiropractic University in Atlanta, Georgia. Charles enjoyed gardening, but teaching and working in men’s ministries were dear to his servant’s heart.

Cheryl (Rev. Randy) Murphy-Anderson

He was preceded in death by his parents

Service of Home Going will take place at 11 am on Saturday in the Cornerstone Community Church, 1010 North Park Avenue, Alexandria with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Cornerstone Community Church on Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday, after 10 am prior to the services
