She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Tuscola, a daughter of Roman and Frances (Kleiss) Cler. She married Fred Bohn in July 1970. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1983.
She is survived by six siblings, Margaret Winn of Tuscola, Donald (Lavon) Cler of Thomasboro, Walter (Janet) Cler of Penfield, Norma (Bruno) Glazik of Paxton, Joe (Doris) Cler of Crawfordsville, Ind., and Nancy Suiter of Crawfordsville, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Jerry) Warnes of Tolono and Sheryl (Mike) of Newman; five grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was a teacher as a Franciscan nun for 27 years. She taught in Ohio, Missouri and St. Matthews in Champaign. She was an artist and loved children.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy Catholic Church, Rantoul. The Rev. Joel Phelps will officiate. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum.
After retiring from the schools, she moved into Hope Meadows in Rantoul, where she was known as "Miss Irene." Some of her happiest moments were spent tutoring these beloved children.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.
Memorials may be made to St. Malachy School or Hope Meadows.
