Arthur G. [George] Adams, self-employed civil engineer, died at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 18, 1974, at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. He had been ill the past month.
The Rev. Donald Sabbert officiated at Evangelical United Church of Christ, with burial in St. John Cemetery. Masonic services were conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Herr Funeral Home.
As expressions of sympathy, contributions to St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ were requested.
A resident of 739 Lake Ave., Collinsville, he was a member of St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ, a member and past master of AF&AM 712, a member of Royal Arch Masons, a member and past commander of Knights Templar Chapter 50 in Belleville, a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers and was secretary of the church’s Men’s Fellowship group.
Born in Creston, Neb., Oct. 29, 1899, the 75-year-old engineer had lived in Collinsville since 1919. His parents were the late John and Emma Bauer Adams.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Shaffer Adams; a daughter, Mrs. John (Donna Rae) Saledas of Woodbridge, Va.; a son, Edward J. Adams of Collinsville; a brother, Clarence Adams of LaPorte, Ind.; a sister Miss Emma Louise Adams of Collinsville, and a grandson, Jason Saledas.
He was also preceded in death by a son Jerry Arthur Adams, and by a sister, Barbara Kolda
