Emma Louise Boettcher, age 4, came to the US from Germany in 1853 with her parents Augustus and Fredrika Boettcher of Herzberg and five siblings aboard the ship Oldenburg and arrived in New Orleans in Dec. 1853 with Saint Louis to be their destination. Emma married on 18 Feb 1867 in Clinton Co., MO to John Frederick Schlorff who was also born in Germany and settled in Shoal Township, Clinton Co MO. By 1900, Emma had given birth to 14 children and 8 were still living.
