After his service to our country, he returned to work and retired from Simmons Mattress Company after 36 years. He was saved in 1955 and he and his family always attended Southern Baptist Churches. Since moving back to the Hughes Springs area, he has been a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Cotton never met a stranger and talked to everybody he met. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden, especially growing his watermelons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, W.E. "Sam" Vaughan, Marshall "Woot" Vaughan, Billy M. Vaughan, and Bobby J. Vaughan; and sister, Christine Scullion.
