March 7, 1926 — February 5, 2018

Dorothy Elaine Score, 91, of Dwight, ND, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge, MN. Public Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Dwight. The Rev. Gordon J. Lee will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Lutheran Church or CHI Health at Home (hospice care). The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge.

Dorothy Elaine was born on March 7, 1926, in Wahpeton, ND to Clarence and Dorothy (Hunkins) Mills. She grew up and attended school in Breckenridge. After graduating in 1945, Dorothy Elaine worked as a telegrapher for the Great Northern Railroad Company for two and a half years. Shortly after this, she met the love of her life, Garfield "Tony" Score, and they were united in holy matrimony on June 5, 1947, in Wahpeton. The couple made their home in Dwight, where Dorothy Elaine's compassion for young, creative minds flourished while working at the Dwight Grade School. Although Dorothy Elaine took pride in teaching at the school, she began working for 3M Company in Wahpeton as a valued employee for nearly 20 years. Most recently, she worked in the cafeteria at the North Dakota State College of Science.

Dorothy Elaine was a fervent worker but her true enthusiasm for life came from activities involving her family and friends. She was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Dwight where she served in Cradle Roll and the Sunday school program. She was an active member and representative of the 3M Club, the Homemakers Club, and the Hobby Club. Some of Dorothy Elaine's favorite hobbies included quilting, playing cards, and tending to her large vegetable garden. She spent much of her time making elaborate and beautiful quilts for her friends, family, and church. She loved her cats, but most of all she treasured listening to the commotion, and sometimes chaos, of her great-grandchildren♥.

Dorothy Elaine is survived by her two sons, Gale (Diane) Score of Fargo, ND, Paul (Vicki) Score of Junction City, KS; her daughter, Colleen (Steve) Fehrman of Leander, TX; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Dorothy (Hunkins) Mills; her husband, Garfield "Tony" Score; her daughter, Cynthia Krause; two sisters, Shirley Gilles and Clarice Trudell; and her daughter in law, Peggy Score.
