OBITUARY FROM 28 AUG 1939, DALLAS MORNING NEWS:

Mrs. Nannie Martha Bownds, 87, of 3931 Worth, native Texas and member of a pioneer Texas family, died at the home of her daughter in Kerens, Navarro County, Saturday.

She was born in Tyler, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Camp. Her grandfather surveyed a number of county lines in North Texas. She recalled vividly the fight her family had with the Indians in Jack County when her sister and brother were wounded by the redskins.

Four generations survive her. She and her late husband lived in several South and Central Texas cities, moving to Kerens thirty-seven years ago. Six years ago she moved to Dallas.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. O.L. Watt, Kerens: Mrs. Della Lincoln and Mrs. Eddie McClain, both of Dallas: three sons, J.T. Bownds, J.V. Bownds, San Antonio and J.C. Bownds, Dallas: twenty grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ at Crandall, Kaufman County, with burial there. The Rev. A.E. Walker will officiate and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Thank you so much,
Cindy
