Higginbotham, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at Assumption Catholic Church in Mire, LA for Mrs. Ethel Johnson, 84, the former Ethel Leger. Mrs. Johnson, a native and long-time resident of Higginbotham, died Saturday morning Feb. 3, 2018 in Lafayette, LA. Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the services with entombment following in the Assumption Catholic Mausoleum in Mire, La.

Survivors include her sons, Carl Johnson and companion Connie Perkins of Irwinville, LA, Dale Johnson and companion Kim Simon of Church Point, LA, Wayne Johnson and wife Janet of Higginbotham, LA, Earl Johnson and wife Daire of Mire, LA, Blaine “B.J.” Johnson and fiancé Cynthia Carriere of Higginbotham, LA; her daughters, Janet Castille and husband Lenox of Lafayette, LA., Cathy Quebodeaux and husband Quenton “Chick” Quebodeaux of Branch, LA.; a brother, Hypolite Leger and wife Maurine of Dallas, TX, a sister Norma Richard and husband Burnet of Sunset, LA; 16 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Johnson; an infant son John Michael Johnson; her Parents Olide Leger and Elise Leger; her daughters in law, Dinah Johnson and Denise Johnson and a great granddaughter, Rachel Marin Lantz.

She was a long-time member of the St. Edmund Catholic Church Community.

Pallbearers will be Jason, Coby, Jake, Hoyt, Beau and Jordan Johnson.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Monday Feb.5, and continue Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. on Monday Feb.5, by Deacon Doug Wimberley.

Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, Louisiana
