Paul Elmer Leatherwood, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018 with his family by his side at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Paul was born in Del Rio, Tennessee to the late Clarance and Della Ramsey Leatherwood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Abe Leatherwood; sister, Lillian Delisle; half-brother, Randall Leatherwood; and grandson, Evan Justice.

Paul retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service and serving during World War II, and also retired from Dayco Corporation with 20 years of service. He loved fishing and had the enjoyment of going to Canada for two weeks, for more than twenty years straight. With a loving heart Paul gave mints to anyone and everyone.

Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Hazel White Leatherwood; two daughters, JoAnn Leatherwood-Quillen, and her husband, Eugene, of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sue Leatherwood Justice, and her husband, Barry, of Powell, Tennessee; a son, Bryan Phillip Leatherwood, of Waynesville; sister, Ilda Baxter, of St. Louis, Missouri; two half-sisters, Jan Dellinger, of Del Rio, Tennessee and Beverly Leatherwood, of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Ray Leatherwood, of Morro Bay, California; four grandsons, Ian Quillen, Daran and Drake Leatherwood and Ryan Justice; and one great-granddaughter, Corbyn Justice.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Creasman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

The interment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Greens Cemetery in Del Rio, Tennessee.

The care of Mr. Leatherwood has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
