The Southern Illinoisan Saturday, February 3, 2018 CARBONDALE — Robert “Bob” Bollhorst, 87, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, in Bourbonnais. He was born Feb. 28, 1930, in Shobonier, the son of Edwin and Martha (Kruenegel) Bollhorst. They preceded in him death. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1954 Bob married Audrey Zeschke in 1954. They had five children. Audrey preceded him in death on March 15, 2002. He was a lifetime member of the SIU Alumni Association, enjoyed photography, geneology and bowling. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel (Joyce) Bollhorst of Bradley, David (Brenda) Bollhorst of Braidwood, Martin Bollhorst of Bradley; two daughters, Carmen (Toby) Rhine of Dongola and Debra LaShure of Kentucky; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, with funeral services at 2 p.m. in Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee.
