Mr. Allen was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina and has been a resident of the coast since 1955.
He was a member of the Gulf Haven Mennonite Church in Gulfport. He retired after 24 years with South Central Bell. He was a telephone and fiber optic contractor for the Southern Company for 29 years.
Mr. Allen became a member of 32 Degree Scottish Rites in 1965 and joined the Joppa Shrine Temple in 1978. He was a member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge, Shriner's Gold Wings Motorcycle Unit, and the South Texas Trail Riders. He had a private pilot's license and was a charter boat captain.
Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Flynn and Maude Allen; his brother, Harold Allen; his sister, Helen Elmore; his baby niece; and wife, Sybil Williams Allen.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Morris; his son, Alfred E. Allen, Jr. (Sandra); his first and last love, Jerri Allen Derouen; his granddaughter, Whitney Price (Shawn); and his great-grandson, Kash Price.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 5, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with a 12:00 p.m. service, all at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport.
Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71103.
